He combined detailed aerial photographs and ground surface elevation data, which were available as open source data, with a program to adjust the numerical values, and arranged his destination in a digital virtual space. In this way, the artist can climb the K2 mountain while contrasting the actual climbing route, or he can follow the invisible border between Mexico and the U.S., where drug smuggling and immigration issues have caused endless friction. Even if the photograph has become an image that does not capture the truth, by connecting images together, anyone can walk and photograph places that are inaccessible in reality. The artist presents an extension of the concept of photography.

2019年の新型コロナウイルスによる感染症の世界的蔓延により、外出する機会が激減した。スマートフォンで旅先のデジタル画像を撮影することすら難しくなり、自宅でコンピューターゲームの世界を逍遥する中で、相川は仮想空間に現実を移し替える試みを企てる。オープンソースとして公開されている詳細な航空写真と地表の標高データをプログラムによって組み合わせ、数値を調整しながら、デジタルの仮想空間に旅先を整える。こうして、実際の登山ルートを対比しながらK2の登山もできれば、麻薬の密輸や移民問題で摩擦の耐えないメキシコと米国に横たわる砂漠地帯を、見えない国境線に沿って進むこともできる。写真が真実を写さない画像となり果てても、画像を繋ぎ合わせることによって、現実には立ち入ることができない場所を歩き、撮影することができる。写真の概念の拡張を作家は提示する。
